Facebook brings out the worst in people

Including me.

I think there is a fine line between being proud of your children and bragging about them.  In reality, we are all very proud of our children and in the interest of being honest, bragging about them is pretty fun too.  Bragging though should be kept to a small circle of people.  Like two.  Maybe three.

I won’t bore you with the details but I have one facebook acquaintance who posts complete bull shit brags about her child.  Everyone who swims with them knows it is bullshit.  I have no idea why she does it.  Nor do I care.

I want to know why it bugs the shit out of me!  It drives me up the wall.  I know better.  I know I shouldn’t care but I do.  And that pisses me off.  I know what you are going to say, I should unfriend her or hide her if it bugs me that much.  Ok, I find it a little entertaining too.  Mostly annoying.  Make her stop…

  1. Lies? What a weirdo! The worst thing I ever saw on facebook was recently. My friend found out she had cervical cancer and was posting about it, for the many people that were concerned about her, but also I’m sure as a way of getting it off her chest. Anyway, someone WROTE ON HER WALL saying that she should suck it up and keep it to herself. Who SAYS that? That’s what happens when you give the average joe a public forum. My blog is a case in point.

    • As is mine! That is a really heartless thing for someone to say to your friend.

My friend doesn’t LIE necessarily, she just brags about things that aren’t brag worthy. For instance, she will brag about the place her child got despite the fact that her child added time.

I don’t mind the bragging when it is warranted although I make it my policy not to do it but she has a way of making things that every other kid in the world can do sound extraordinary!

  2. That would drive me crazy too! We have a friend like that who told us some complete lies about his daughter and then kept loosing track what lies he had told. I don’t understand why someone would do that- especially when it is so easy to find out the truth.

    Sorry that’s happening to you!
